High Schools
There are many ways that you school can benefit from Where’s the Map? Create Your OWN Guide to Life after Graduation. Here is how it can serve you if you are a teacher, school administrator, guidance counselor or fundraising coordinator:
Raising Money for your Kids’ School or Student Programs
We offer fundraising opportunities for high schools and other student organizations that are directly tied to the sales of Where’s the Map? Create your OWN Guide to Life after Graduation through our Inspiration Fundraising Program. Please contact us for more details.Classroom Supplement
Many teachers may find our book helpful in planning creative writing assignments that inspire students to uncover their values, mission, vision and strategies for a particular area of their lives. The material would also serve as a basis for unique and interesting classroom discussion topics. In addition, Where’s the Map? might be applied to courses related to career development, college preparation, and future planning.
Tool for the Guidance Office
With so many students heading off to college without a clue what they want to major in, much less a direction for their lives, this book is an invaluable tool for guidance counselors. Most guidance counselors do not have enough time to elicit the information needed to understand each student’s vision. The counselor could assign activities from Where’s the Map? and use the information from the completed exercises to advise an appropriate path for each student. In addition, this book provides information about alternatives for students who are not ready to attend college immediately after high school, if at all. Gap Year Scholarships are available for this type of student and can be advertised by the Guidance Office.Gifts for Graduates
Does your school give a gift to graduates every year? Where’s the Map? would be a small investment in a tool that could have a big impact on your grads. If you school cannot afford to give a gift to every graduate, perhaps there is a local business or organization who would be interested in buying a case for this purpose. At the very least, there may be parents or other community members who are looking for a unique gift for their graduates, and the school can be a helpful tool in getting the word out.Gap Year Scholarships for Graduates
Do you know a student who isn’t quite ready for college? Maybe he or she needs a chance to get some real-world experience in an internship, to travel to another country, to participate in a leadership program, or to volunteer for a year with Habitat for Humanity. There are many other countries who are promoting the idea of a Gap Year between high school and college, to give graduates a chance to grow up a little more and develop their focus. The United States is coming on-board with this idea of the Gap Year, and an increasing number of colleges and employers see value in this time of exploration in a young person’s development. Inspiration Publications Inc. is offering several Gap Year Scholarships to the winners of our scholarship essay contest. Students can register for the scholarship on our website.
